The Society for Risk Analysis (SRA) has awarded Dr. Jo Anne Shatkin with the prestigious Outstanding Practitioner Award for 2015. The award recognizes exceptional contributions to the field of risk analysis and Dr. Shatkin joins the ranks of other prominent field leaders that previously held the award including Lauren Zeise, Edmund Crouch, and Todd Bridges among others.
In addition, Dr. Shatkin was inducted as a Fellow of the Society, acknowledging her substantial achievement in science and public policy relating to risk analysis as well as her service to the Society.
As President and Founder of Vireo Advisors, Dr. Shatkin has over 20 years of experience providing guidance and leadership in risk analysis. Since 2013, she has built Vireo Advisors into an expert advising firm, collaborating with government, industry, non-profits and academics on new product developments and commercialization of novel technologies.
Dr. Shatkin has served on several international committees and taught courses on risk analysis. She has an extensive publication record, contributing books, chapters and peer-reviewed articles on environmental health and safety and life-cycle approaches to risk analysis. Her book, “Nanotechnology: Health and Environmental Risks” focuses on how risk analysis can aid in making responsible, informed decisions on nanotechnology product development. Her hard work and dedication have made her a leader in the field.
