The Society for Risk Analysis (SRA) Annual Meeting, Empires of Risk Analysis: Science, Policy, and Innovation Materials is taking place in Arlington, VA this week from December 6-10th!
Vireo Advisors President and Founder, Dr. Jo Anne Shatkin, is presenting in several symposia on the hazards and risks of nanoscale materials.
On Monday afternoon Dr. Shatkin will be presenting in the Nanotechnology Risk Governance: Current and Future Approaches to Managing Potential Risks from Emerging Nanomaterials symposium. Her talk, entitledIncorporating Alternative Testing Strategies into Regulatory Decision Making frames the issues for regulatory decision making around alternate-testing strategies and discusses recommendations from the 2014 SRA-organized international workshop on “ATS for nanomaterials (NanoRisk II) for advancing the research and improving adoption”.
On Wednesday morning, Dr. Shatkin will also present in the symposium on Hazard Communication for Nanoscale Materials: Addressing Hazards Under the Globally Harmonized System for Classification. Here, her talk entitled Case Study, Safety Data Sheet Development for a Pre-commercial Nanoscale Material describes the analysis of information relative to requirements, and highlights policy issues emerging from the current data gaps in the context of communicating about potential nanoscale hazards in an occupational environment.
It’s sure to be a great meeting & we are excited to see everyone there! For more information on the SRA’s 2015 meeting, including it’s list of plenary lectures, check out their press release.
