European Commission has published an inventory of 43 nanomaterials used in cosmetics. These nanomaterials are used as preservatives, colorants and UV-filters. This publication of these nanomaterials has been three years in the making. The three year delay, according to the Commission, was due to issues with information provided by manufacturers and importers about the substances.
The European Commission reported that they "will continue working with EU countries and industry to constantly monitor and improve the quality of the data on nanomaterials given by operators."
