EPA Issues Final SNUR for Carbon Nanomaterial (Generic) (PMN P-10-366)

The U.S. EPA issued the final SNUR for Carbon Nanomaterial (Generic) (PMN P-10-366) on November 25, 2019. The significant new uses are:

1. Protection in the workplace;

2. Industrial, commercial, and consumer activities; and

3. Release to water.

Anyone who intends to manufacture or process carbon materials must notify the EPA at least 90 days before manufacturing begins. The requirements of the final SNUR does not apply to carbon nanomaterials that have been cured, incorporated, or embedded into a polymer matrix which has been completely cured, embedded in a permanent solid polymer, metal, glass, or ceramic form, or completely embedded in an article as defined at 40 C.F.R. Section 720.3(c). The final SNUR will be effective January 24, 2020.
