Investments Driving Companies to Focus on Sustainable Bio-based Materials

Investors are taking note of the more than 5 trillion pieces of plastic waste floating in our oceans today and contributing more than $30 trillion in sustainable investments globally. Investments are driving companies to focus on the development of sustainable bio-based materials. One such company is the Israeli startup UBQ Materials who’s technology converts unsorted household waste into plastic-like pellets which can be used for the manufacturing of thousands of products. UBQ is working with waste management authorities in Virginia to test 2,000 recycling bins made of their material and the company recently announced a contract with Arcos Dorados (the largest independent McDonald’s franchise in the world).
