Scientific advice for the FAO/WHO on cell-based food products and food safety considerations

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO), is holding an expert consultation in Singapore from 1 to 4 November 2022 to provide scientific advice for food safety hazard identification for cultured meat and seafood (cell-based food).

Drs. Kimberly Ong and Jo Anne Shatkin from Vireo Advisors are serving on this panel, working to identify the needs for global actions and make expert recommendations for follow-up from relevant international organizations.

The group will exchange technical knowledge and good practices and aims to concisely summarize the relevant technical matters for the national food safety competent authorities, particularly those in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMIC).
